random thoughts on decorating a room.

I'm redoing my room. This comes as as shock to me. When we did my room when I was 16, It was pretty much perfect. For better or worse, it became my safe haven for the past 10 years. I thought it would always remain so, a bit of me frozen in time safe and forever with my teenage dreams and young adult hopes.
However now with teenage dreams fulfilled and surpased, and young adult hopes either dashed or continuing, it just did not make any internal sense to keep this frozen bit of myself, as myself has continued to grow and learn - no longer fitting in those old ideas of who I was and who I was becoming.
And the best part of it all is, really, my present is so much more than I ever dreamed that it could be. Naturally, there are some things I had hoped for which have not yet been fulfilled, but over all I believe if i had presented my current situation to my 16 year old self, she would be shocked, pleased, and curious - more into the hope and confidence I now have (Thanks to God's faithfulness and continued encouragement in my life), which I could not even fathom back then.
So its with some sadness that walls are painted, but its with great excitement as I continue going to wherever I am headed.
I'll be posting pictures soon enough!

i'm so excited about your new room! don't be sad: be glad ;) if it turns out even half as nice as mine did when it got revamped, it will be spectacular--but i know it is gonna be twice as wonderful. you are just going to LOVE it. dramatically changing one's living environment can be very cathartic and rejuvenating all at once. i hope you and mom have a super fun time doing it, too, and are not too sad about all the growing up and moving on. moving on forward! living the dream!

I love having a redecorated room! That's one of the reasons it's so fun to move to a new place. I can't wait to see your pictures!
